On Government…

Filed under: Politics — tkweber @ 11:17 pm

“I am more and more convinced that man is a dangerous creature, and that power whether vested in many or few is ever grasping…The great fish swallow up the small [she had continued] and he who is most strenuous for the rights of the people, when vested with power, is as eager after the prerogatives of government. You tell me of degrees of perfection to which human nature is capable of arriving, and I believe it, but at the same time lament that our admiration should arise from the scarcity of the instances.” (Abigail Adams quoted in John Adams, by David McCullough, 101)

“We may please ourselves with the prospect of free and popular governments. But there is a great danger that those governments will not make us happy. God grant they may. But I fear that in every assembly, members will obtain an influence by noise not sense. By meanness, not greatness. By ignorance, not learning. By contracted hearts, not large souls…” (John Adams, ibid, 106)

This sounds a lot like the present state of our government.

Even the Russians are laughing at us!

A friend sent me this link to a very interesting and timely article:

Russians are ridiculing America’s mad dash toward the Marxist wasteland from which they recently emerged. If they recognize the overtly socialist agenda of the Obama administration, why can’t the American people?! How stupid can we be? Pull your head out, people! Look around. Turn off American Idol, stop watching John & Kate exploit their eight, and read some world history! What President Obama and Congress are doing to and with this nation has NEVER WORKED ANYWHERE, AT ANY TIME, IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD!

Levin hits the nail on the head with a warning every American should hear. Read his new book: “Liberty and Tyranny.”

GM is now “Government Motors”

The U.S. Government’s take-over of General Motors (and the banking system, and soon the healthcare system, etc.) is a gross affront to every American citizen and a betrayal of the principals and values upon which this nation was founded and by which it has prospered. President Obama, his administration and Congress have far overstepped their constitutional authority and threaten to fundamentally alter the entire American system of government, the economy, and the life and liberty of every U.S. citizen.

I pray that the people of this nation will soon wake up and recognize the fraud being perpetrated upon us, and the extremely deleterious effects it will have upon future generations of Americans and the rest of the world, and rise up against it with every means at our disposal.

As a patriot and owner of two vehicles made by American manufacturers (one Chevy, one Ford), I will protest the government take-over by pledging TO NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER GM PRODUCT as long as the government is running it and as long as I retain the freedom to choose. I urge all Americans to join me in this protest and tell the President to BACK OFF!
